Hades and Persephone (+)
He loved her the moment he saw her. She was wild and beautiful, spirited and kind. Everything he dreamt about at night and denied himself by day. Adventurous Hermes and handsom, brave Apollo had wooed her. What chance could he possibly have. He was the sour lord of the underworld. A dark and fearsome realm.
It was joy he felt when Zeus permitted him to take her.
Cornflowers blossomed on the field. She startled when she saw him and cried as the darkness of the earth swallowed them. All the joy he had felt was gone then. He did not want to possess her, he wanted her to love him. But when she smiled it was out of pity and when he touched her she pulled away. With every day her looks and heart grew cold. But he could not let her go.
When he was commanded to bring her back to her mother he gave her pomegranate seeds to eat. It was desperation that led him.
As she was told what this would mean to her (that she would have to spend half her year with him) she looked at him and took his hand and she wispered. “I will gladly stay with you.” His own heart skipped a beat.
